Moore House Fundraising Week 2022

Moore House Fundraising Week 2022

The Spring Term saw not one, but two, House Fundraising Weeks, with Moore bringing the fourth and final fundraising extravaganza of the year to the School community in late March.

Moore did incredibly well, raising a staggering £6,252.20 for their chosen charity, Back Up.

Excitement started to build the Friday before the Fundraising Week with a rousing assembly from representatives of Moore House who spoke about Back Up, the charity they had chosen to support. Back up inspires people affected by a spinal cord injury to get the most out of life. They help people and their families rebuild their independence after spinal cord injuries, providing practical services to challenge the perceptions of what’s possible and increase individual’s skills and confidence. The charity is close to the heart of the School, having supported one of our families.

There was lots of opportunities to raise funds for this fantastic charity while having fun at the same time thanks to the organisation of pupils in Moore House, House Captains Jessica and James and House Staff Mr Leggat and Mrs Elsby.

Across the week, highlights included: crepes on sale in The Courtyard Café, the staff football team took on S6 with staff triumphing in a close 2-1 match, teachers put their vocal cords to the test with break time karaoke requests from pupils and the return of Moore’s Midwinter Madness!

Other peaks from the week included the much-loved Soak The Teachers which saw Mr Leggat, Mrs Elsby, Mr Ford, Mr Totten and Mrs Owen get suitably drenched for a good cause! And of course, the Moore House Show, a fantastic take on the famous TV favourite The Apprentice, with Mr Robertson ‘recruiting’ a new member of the SLT!

Special thanks should also go to Head of Rugby, Mr Gillies, who did a solid 250 press-ups after raising a sizeable sum via the Mr Gillies Press Up Fund!

Mr Leggat, Head of Moore House, said:

Thank you to every single pupil and member of staff who helped to make Moore’s Fundraising Week magnificent! We are staggered at the generosity of everyone and so grateful for the support shown. We are really proud to have raised £6,252.20 for Back Up, a charity doing tremendous work.”

...

The total sum raised by the four Houses for four separate charities across this session amounts to over £16,000, a truly fantastic achievement from all!
