The High School U13 Boys' football team (pictured above) performed well in the SFA Cashback Sevens Tournament at Bearsden Academy on Friday 24th March, qualifying for the next round.

The team of Shaun McNulty (Captain), Jude BannatyneFraser BarrMackenzie BruceDan LilleyMatthew Provan (all S1), Archie MacFadyenLiam McColl, Kwesi O'Hare and Ben Taylor (all Trans) were undefeated in their section, winning two and drawing one. The boys then lost narrowly to Rosshall Academy (1-0) in their semi-final. As three teams qualify for the next stage, their 3rd place playoff was a very important game - step up Captain Shaun McNulty, who not only finished the tournament as top goalscorer with six goals, but also scored with the last kick of the playoff game, sealing a deserved victory over Jordanhill School and qualification for the next round!

Meanwhile in girls' football, Georgia and Mhairi Crooks (both S3) attended a training camp in Jersey in mid-March, as well as taking part in matches against Central Girls Academy in Falkirk and Hibernian in Edinburgh, in preparation for the Bob Docherty International Tournament, taking place in Dublin during the Easter break.

Professional Coaching

Lily Paterson (S2) was drawn as a winner in Harper Macleod's competition to take part in a special session with Paralympian Sammi Kinghorn and some Glasgow Warriors rugby players, including Al Kellock, at Scotstoun Stadium on Thursday 16 March. Lily was given an insight into what it takes to be an elite competitor and the dedication required to become a top class athlete.

Akshat Gupta (Trans) was part of the Scottish national squad who travelled down to Milton Keynes to compete at the U13 Gold Junior tournament in late February and won Boys' Singles Gold and Boys' Doubles Silver with J6 partner Zu-An Chen (J6) at the Glasgow Schools Primary Championships at Glasgow School of Sport in early March. He will now go on to represent the School at the Scottish Schools' Primary Championships in Perth.

Cross Country

Anya Maclean (S1) has been competing in the British Cross Country Series and took part in the CAU Inter County Championships final on Saturday 11th March in Loughborough. While she was competing on an individual level, she was also picked by Scottish Athletics to be part of the West District team which faced off against all the other counties in England, Wales and Ireland. Anya finished 17th in the U13 Girls' race, only 11 seconds off of a top 10 finish.

Alexander Kirkwood (S3) reached the final of the ABkC (Association of British Kart Clubs) ‘O’ plate Junior Max Competition in Rowrah, Cumbria on Saturday 11th March and won the first club round at Wigan earlier in the season, representing Cannon Motorsport.

Almost 100 High School pupils competed in the Minerva Cup and Auldhouse Cup indoor athletics team competitions at the Emirates Arena on Monday 27th March. Both the girls and boys teams were unfortunate to end the day as runners up, being pipped to victory by Hutchesons' Grammar School in both competitions.

Gordon Sivarajan (S3) will represent the GBR team at the Laser 4.7 European Championships during the Easter break.
