Seasons for Growth

A successful education programme that gives young people the opportunity to learn that change, loss and grief are normal parts of life.

Seasons For Growth 1 At The High School of Glasgow we offer this course to young people who are dealing with significant loss or change, perhaps through the death of a loved one or parental divorce or separation. The members of staff who facilitate Seasons for Growth have been specifically trained and are accredited to run the programme.

We meet for eight weeks, in twenty-five minute sessions, in small groups comprising youngsters of a similar age. Confidentiality is agreed amongst the members of the group.

Seasons for Growth is based on research that highlights the importance of social support and the need to practise new skills to cope with the youngster's change and loss. The programme focuses on issues such as self esteem, managing feelings, problem solving, decision making, effective communication and developing peer support networks.
