Eco-Schools is an international initiative which incorporates ten key topics into the curricular and extra-curricular areas of the school (Litter, Energy, Water, Waste Minimisation, Sustaining Our World, Biodiversity, School Grounds, Food and the Environment, Health and Wellbeing and Transport). An eco-committee, largely made up of pupils, helps to decide, monitor and evaluate progress relating to environmental issues. Some suggestions also come via the Pupil Council.

In 2012 Eco-Schools Scotland awarded the Senior School and Junior School a joint Green Flag, which is an internationally recognised standard of excellence.

Pupils are encouraged to keep the school grounds and buildings free from litter. A team of pupil volunteers collects recycling from classrooms.  Pupils, parents and staff have helped to raise money for and supported many local, national and international charities. The school has a healthy eating policy and regularly organises health awareness events for pupils.

In May 2012, the Junior School planned and developed a 'Secret Garden' to help improve biodiversity within the school grounds. Pupils from the Senior School also helped with this project.
