Beyond the Classroom

The Senior School provides a wide range of opportunities for all pupils to achieve excellence both inside and outside the classroom

Clubs and Societies

The school take great pride in the wide range of clubs and societies available for pupils to participate in, with a wide variety on offer each and every day.

From music and sporting clubs, to cookery classes, historical film clubs and eco groups, to learning Italian or Japanese, there is no reason for pupils not to expand their horizons with some extra-curricular activities.

Every year the School holds an 'Activities and Enrichment Week' where a bespoke programme is planned for every year group and is designed to enrich the wide range of opportunities, allow pupils the chance to try something new and challenge themselves.

Charities and Voluntary Service

Pupils at the Senior School contribute to charitable causes and frequently involve themselves in community service activities. In recent times, the High School has taken part in community service projects as far away as India, Morocco and Uganda.

Each House hosts a fundraising week throughout the school session, with fundraising efforts benefiting a specific charity each time. Sixth Year pupils and staff participate enthusiastically in an annual blood donation drive, while various pupils and staff often partake in charitable events and fundraising efforts out with school. Elderly members of the local community are frequently invited for tea and coffee while taking in the dress rehearsals for the Senior School music and drama productions.

The numerous charities supported at the Senior School includes UNICEF, Save the Children, Build Africa, Water Aid, Help for Heroes, NSPCC, The Scottish Refugee Council, The Scottish Association for Mental Health (SAMH), East Park and the Beatson Cancer Charity.

From time to time, the school may advertise members of our community charity ventures on this page. If you would like us to consider a request to publicise your event please email charity@hsog.co.uk and provide Pupil Name and Year Group (if parent request).
