Junior 5 pupil wins Scots Verse Competition

26 February 2021 | Tagged: Junior School, Competitions

Our annual Junior School Scots Verse competition was a little different this year. Taking place on Friday 26th February, our eight finalists, pupils and teachers joined judge, Reverend John Purves, virtually via Zoom for the annual competition.

Due to local restrictions and lockdown, pupils joined the event via zoom and listened to the eight finalists perform their poems from home.

Reverend Purves said he was 'blown away by the talent of the pupils, especially their confidence and performance skills.

The finalists included Junior 6 pupils, Robbie McCallum and Niamh Ronaldson, Junior 5 pupils, Sophie Cowan and Cece Fuller, Junior 4 pupils, Chloe Cook and Amna Athar and Junior 3 pupils, Layla Weir and Charlie Donnelly.

Following the performances, Reverend Purves announced Cece of Junior 5 as the winner, with Niamh (J6) Chloe (J4) in second and third place respectively. Cece performed her own original poem, 'Ma Wee Naughty Dug'.

Well done to all our finalists, especially our winner, Cece, who will be presented with the Thomas Cup for Scottish Verse at Prizegiving.
