Mathematics Competition Update

Despite the stop-start nature of the last few months, our young mathematicians have been in top form, achieving impressive results in recent national competitions. Well done to the following pupils on their successes:

UKMT Senior Maths Challenge

In the UK Maths Trust Senior Challenge, a competition intended for Fifth and Sixth Year pupils, Joshua Liang of S3 achieved a gold award - he was 'best in school' and qualified for the British Mathematical Olympiad.

Jade Miles (S6) also won a gold award and qualified for the follow-on Kangaroo Round.

UKMT Intermediate Maths Challenge

The UK Maths Trust Intermediate Challenge saw Second, Third and Fourth Year pupils competing, with six pupils achieving gold awards:

Zixuan Yao (S4) (who also qualified for the Maclaurin Olympiad)
Joshua Liang (S3) (who also qualified for the Hamilton Olympiad)
Godfrey Antomarlin
Alexander Ballingall 
Ritvik Maheshwari (all S4) (all three of whom also qualified for the Pink Kangaroo follow-on round) 
Nuur Ahmad (S2) (who also qualified for the Grey Kangaroo follow-on round)

UKMT Primary Maths Challenge

The UK Maths Trust Primary Challenge saw a number of Transitus pupils compete for prizes - Well done to gold award winners: 

Jesse Ji (who also qualified for the follow-on bonus round)
Lily Li
Jamie McCreath
Lindan Mulvey
Theo Stalin
Claire Zhang

British Mathematical Olympiad Competitions

Following on from success in the Senior Maths Challenge earlier in the session, Joshua Liang (S3) he competed in the prestigious British Mathematical Olympiad.

Another stellar performance saw him reach the second round of the competition, where he received a merit award - an excellent achievement! 

Meanwhile, in the UK Maths Trust Olympiad for Girls competition prior to Christmas, Zixuan Yao (S4) was awarded 'best in school', her total seeing her ranked within the top 25% of competitors in the country. Well done Zixuan!
