HSOG Sevens Success

The HSOG Hockey and Rugby Sevens Tournament took place on Wednesday 11 March with 16 guest schools taking part. 

The annual tournament brings together School Hockey and Rugby teams from across Scotland to enjoy an afternoon of Sevens matches. The tournament is the culmination of the Schools Hockey and Rugby seasons and is very much a celebration of all the hard work pupils and staff have put into the previous months.  

Old Anniesland came alive with eight schools competing in the rugby tournament and sixteen competing in the hockey tournament across Old Anniesland, Windyedge and Balgray pitches.  

HSOG rugby 1st VII and hockey 1st VII performed well throughout, reaching each cup final, with both coming up against George Heriot's SchoolThe boys fought hard in a tight match, scoring in the final seconds to win 21-15! Meanwhile, the girls narrowly lost out on the trophy losing 1-0 in the final.  

The plate finals saw Kelvinside Academy take home the rugby plate courtesy of a 33-19 extra time victory over Austin Friars School, while Hutchesons' Grammar School won the hockey plate with voctory against Austin Friars 

A great day was had by all participating pupils, staff and supporting pupils, parents and staff.
