The High School Canto Choir were victorious in the U13 Choir Class category at the Inverclyde Music Festival last week.

The Canto Choir, a chamber choir for pupils in Transitus to Second Year, sang two choral pieces at Greenock Town Hall on Friday 31st January, impressing with their collaborative vocal performance and winning the U13 Choir Class trophy. The adjudicator said "This was a very well prepared and performed programme sung by a very focused choir...with obvious enjoyment and plenty of energy."

Well done to the choir - Anya Cowan, Kiera Davidson, Nicola Dry, Molly Gordon, Yasmin Lamb, Maya Marshall, Kara McCormack, Francesca Owen, Scarlet Penman, Harriet Reid, Emma Rossetter, Marianna Smith, Eva Timar, Mia Walker, Landi Weng and Alex Winter - directed by Miss Alison McNeill and accompanied on piano by Mr Robert Melling.

Miss McNeill said "Competitions are great for getting out and seeing the high standard of other choirs. It continues to inspire us to be the best we can be. I look forward to Canto performing at the 'Night At the Movies' concert at the Senior School in March and also at the smallest Cathedral in Europe (in Millport!) in June."
