Berlin 2020

27 February 2020 | Tagged: Senior School, Trips

26 Fifth and Sixth Year pupils visited Berlin during the mid-term break, spending four days exploring the sights and sounds of the German capital.

Pupils took in a number of historically important locations on walking tours throughout the city. This included Checkpoint Charlie and the remnants of the Berlin Wall, Brandenburg Gate and the Holocaust Memorial Centre to the murdered Jews of Europe. The group also visited the Reichstag Building and took a trip to the top of the Berlin TV Tower for impressive views of the city.

The penultimate day of the trip included a coach journey outwith Berlin to visit the city of Potsdam and Sachsenhausen Concentration Camp, a timely reminder of the horrors of World War II.

The final excursion was a treat for history buffs and football fans alike - a guided tour of the Olympic Stadium, host to both the infamous 1936 Olympic Games and the 2006 World Cup Final.
