Lift Off for Fifth Year Flyer

8 October 2019 | Tagged: Senior School

Fifth Year pupil Jennifer Cuthill recently became one of the youngest individuals in the United Kingdom to fly a plane solo.

On Saturday 8th September, at the age of just 16, Jennifer took to the sky in a Cessna light aircraft, following just 17 hours of tuition at the Leading Edge Flying Club, based at Glasgow Airport.

The flight saw Jennifer perform a take off, spending almost an hour in the air before coming back down to earth with a perfect landing.

Not content with being one of the youngest solo pilots in the country, Jennifer now hopes to complete the 40 hours of flying time necessary to acquire her pilot's licence by her 17th birthday as she seeks to become a commercial airline pilot in the future.
