National Gold for HSOG Athletes

High School athletes from both the Junior and Senior Schools had a successful weekend, with Gold medals won at national schools' aquathlon and cross country competitions on Friday and Saturday.

At Friday's Scottish Schools' Aquathlon Championships (involving a two stage race of swimming, followed by running) in Glenrothes, Aurelia Tiffoney (S3) and Fergus Currie (S2) each saw off over 90 competitors to win individual Gold in the S3/S4 Girls' and S1/S2 Boys' races, respectively. Anya MacLean (S3) finished 4th in the S3/S4 Girls' race, with Kirsty Wicklow (S2) finishing 10th in the S1/S2 Girls' event.

The team event - an open competition in relay format - was also won by the High School's youthful team of Anya MacLean, Aurelia Tiffoney, Fergus Currie and Jamie Ritchie (S2). They defeated over 25 other teams, many of whom featured older competitors, to win team Gold.

The following day in the Scottish Primary Schools' Cross Country Championships at Kirkcaldy High School, the Junior 6 Girls' team - Ellie Burns, Beth Campbell, Nicola Dry, Yasmin Lamb, Olivia McKnight and Eva Stirling - displayed excellent teamwork to win Gold medals. Elsewhere, the Transitus Boys' team were fifth overall in the P7 Boys' race, with the Junior 6 Boys' finishing in eighth position in their race.
