Second Year chef Amy Ashton won the Rotary Young Chef Scottish and North of England Final on Saturday 2nd March at South Lanarkshire College.

After winning the Glasgow Heat of the Rotary Young Chef Competition in January and finishing as runner up in the District Final later the same month, Amy's success in the Scottish and North of England Final at the weekend marks her third successive advancement in the competition.

The judges were once again impressed with her three courses of food, featuring:

  • a starter of asparagus soup
  • a main course of chicken wrapped in prosciutto, stuffed with homemade pesto and served with a red pepper sauce
  • a dessert of chocolate fondants served with a raspberry gel

Amy now advances to the UK Final of the Rotary Young Chef competition at Leeds City College on Saturday 28th April.

She will also be joined in national cookery competition finals by Jessica Mitchell of Third Year who will be competing in the UK Final of the Springboard Future Chef competition at Westminster College, London on Monday 18th March.
