Continued Success for Sailing Siblings

10 May 2018 | Tagged: Senior School, Sports, Competitions

Two High School sailing siblings continue to succeed on the water, with recent competition success and national sailing selection.

Following on from selection for the team last year, Fourth Year sailor Gordon Sivarajan has been invited to be part of the RYA Scotland Elite Programme and Team for the 2018/2019 season. Gordon was selected for the team on the strength of his "commitment, hard work and achievements over the past year" and will receive extra individual coaching throughout the year. Gordon's younger brother Alex Sivarajan (S1) also continues to be part of the RYA Scotland Development Team for Optimist sailing and will be part of the Scottish Squad for the British National Championships this summer.

The brothers competed at the RYA Scotland Spring Championships at Loch Venachar last month, with Gordon placing first in the Laser 4.7 class and Alex third in the Optimist class. Alex also represented Team Scotland at last weekend's Eric Twiname Junior Championships which saw teams from Scotland, Wales, Ireland and England compete at Rutland Sailing Club. Alex finished fifth in the Optimist class, ranking as the highest placed Scottish sailor in the Optimist event.
