Fourth Year musician Duniya Majumder was recently awarded the Intermediate Class trophy at the prestigious James Waterhouse Piano Competition.

The event, which takes place at the All-Steinway status Loretto School in Musselburgh, is seen as one of the foremost piano competitions in the UK, with almost 100 school-age pianists taking part in this year's event.

Following a day of competitive classes, Duniya was one of ten performers chosen to repeat their performance in an evening final. After deliberation, the adjudicators for the evening, renowned pianists Caroline Clemmow and Christopher Baxter, chose Duniya as the winner of the Intermediate section.

She was awarded the James Waterhouse Trophy, as well as a cash prize and an all-expenses paid trip to London next month where she will have the opportunity to perform at Steinway Hall.
