The Spring term was brought to a spectacular close earlier this week with 'Fiesta at 40!', a concert celebrating this important year in the High School's illustrious history.

The concert was compered by Senior Deputy Rector, Kenneth Robertson, and featured talented Transitus-S6 High School musicians as part of a number of musical groups performing an eclectic array of fiesta music in the Senior School Assembly Hall.

The audience were treated to performances by the Intermediate Wind and String Bands, Senior Concert Band, Chamber Choir, Membranophonists and Membranophonistes, Senior Orchestra, Senior String Orchestra, Jazz and Pipe Bands. They took on a range of pieces, from 19th century Tchiakovsky overtures, to traditional Scottish tunes, to modern film and television themes by the likes of acclaimed composer John Williams and seventies Swedish sensations Abba!

The evening was a fitting tribute to 40 years of the Senior School at Old Anniesland, as well as acknowledging the musical talent of High School pupils and the Music Department staff who teach them. A delighted audience were even treated to a performance by the Rector as he joined guitarists on stage for a tune! What better way to bring the Spring term to a close!
