Fifth Year violinist Ella Fraser was recently offered a place in the prestigious National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain for 2018.

In addition to becoming a part of the orchestra, Ella has also been asked to take on the role of string leader. This is a position which unique to the National Youth Orchestra and means that Ella will have the additional responsibility of supporting the Principal of her section as well as receiving additional training to develop leadership skills so that she can "carry confidence, positivity and excellence through the section.

Ella's first involvement with the National Youth Orchestra will be as part of their winter residency which runs over the new year, culminating in concerts at Bridgewater Hall in Manchester (5th January), Nottingham Royal Concert Hall (6th January) and the Barbican in London (7th January). The Orchestra will perform Liadov's The Enchanted Lake, Dukas' The Sorcerer's Apprentice and Bartók's Duke Bluebeard's Castle.

Ella will continue with the orchestra throughout 2018, with further performances in Birmingham and London later in the year.
