Four High School pupils succeeded at the Word Wizard Spelling Bee Final at the Scottish Parliament on Friday 12th May.

Lujine Ibrahim, Doaa Shabbir (both S3), Charlie Campbell and Mariam Ibrahim (both S2) competed against S1-S3 pupils from schools throughout Scotland in a competition that saw participants having to learn 225 words in a foreign language and be able to translate and spell more words in a minute than their fellow competitors.

Lujine, Doaa, Charlie and Mariam had clearly put the groundwork in, as each headed home with a trophy in tow! Doaa gained a 1st place finish in the Intermediate Spanish competition, with Lujine gaining 1st place in the Intermediate German competition. Charlie finished 2nd in the Intermediate Spanish competition whilst Mariam was 2nd place in the Intermediate French competition.

The contestants were also joined on the day by two S1 pupils, Annabel Davies and Tanvi Mantry, who had competed in the earlier rounds of the competition and came along to support the trophy winners! They can all be seen below.
