Fourth Year pupil Doaa Shabbir was victorious at the St Andrew's Day Debate at the Scottish Parliament building in Edinburgh last week.

Doaa was paired with Edinburgh University student Mark Wilson as they came together to participate in three debates in which they were placed 1st and 2nd, with the third debate a closed result.

By virtue of these excellent performances, Doaa and Mark were one of four teams to qualify for the final. They competed in the Main Debating Chamber at the Parliament, proposing the notion of a universal basic wage, arguing their points well enough to overcome the other finalists and be crowned overall winners.

Doaa attended a St Andrew’s Day reception on Thursday 30th November at Edinburgh Castle, with First Minister Nicola Sturgeon also in attendance.
