Parent Association

The Parent Association acts as a focal point for the School community.

The Parent Association acts as a focal point for the School community, to promote co-operation and communication between the parents, staff members, the School and the Board of Governors; and to act as a fund raising body.

Aims of the Association

To support the School in providing the best quality education appropriate to the individual needs of the pupils and to maximise the potential of every pupil by:

  • Promoting co-operation and open communication within the school community.
  • Promoting projects and events intended for the benefit of the pupils, the school community or for other charitable purposes.

Parent Feedback

If you would like to feed back to the school regarding an issue that concerns a year group, school policy or a general issue that is not specific to your child, please get in touch here and select Parent Feedback Form from the 'Links' menu. If you do not have a Parent Portal log in, please contact Chris Castell at

If your feedback relates to your child’s performance or wellbeing, please use the existing arrangements in place for parent communication with the School. This is via class teacher (Junior School), Form teachers (Transitus) or Housemaster/mistress (S1-S6).

Uniform Sales & Lost Property

The Parent Association also organise second hand uniform sales. These run at least four times a year and are handy for picking up an extra rugby/hockey shirt or cricket jumper! If you have any items of used/new sports kit, blazers, kilts, official outfitters trousers/shorts which you no longer need, please hand them in to the school office, clearly marked 'Uniform Sale'. Alternatively, email us and we will arrange collection from you.

We also run a lost property service during term time to try and repatriate lost items to owners. This happens on a regular basis so watch out for notifications via email and twitter.

Get Involved

We are always looking for volunteers, so if you would like to be involved in helping on the day or in the run up to any of our events please get in touch - VOLUNTEER

You can help for as little or as long as you like and there is no obligation to join the Parent Association!

Our email address is and our Twitter address is @HSOGparentassoc

We are also always in need of sponsorship for our events. If this is something you could help with, please get in touch.

How PA Funds Are Used

We are trying to put the money we raise back into the school. This year we bought subs coats for the rugby and hockey teams to keep them warm on the sidelines. We also paid for the Transitus medieval banquet.

Going forward we are looking to increase this support across the school community. All ideas are welcome if you think a year group or specific department are in need of something that the Parent Association could fund. We will also use some of the funds raised in the year to support our chosen charity which is Music in Hospitals and Care. We raised just over £4,000 at our Ceilidh night held at Oran Mor. This, in combination with uniform sales, has increased our surplus by over £7,000 this year.
