Rebekah Crowned Rotary Young Chef of Great Britain & Ireland 2026!

Rebekah Crowned Rotary Young Chef of Great Britain & Ireland 2026!

The High School of Glasgow is bursting with pride to announce that Fifth Year pupil Rebekah d G has been crowned the Rotary Young Chef Great Britain & Ireland Champion for 2026 - winning the prestigious national title recently at the Grand Final in Hartford, Cheshire.

From an initial field of more than 6,000 competitors from across Great Britain and Ireland, Rebekah progressed all the way to the national final following some demanding local and national heats.

At the Grand Final she faced up against six other extraordinarily talented young chefs. Over the course of a demanding two-hour challenge, she produced dishes of remarkable quality, creativity and exquisite finesse that left the judging panel in no doubt as to who should take home the crown.

Rebekah handled the pressure of the national stage with exceptional grace, talent and composure. Take a bow - you've earned it!"

Ms Karen Moore,
Head of HFT

The three judges - leading industry professionals including BBC MasterChef 2023 finalist Anurag Aggarwal - were unanimous in their verdict: Rebekah's skill, organisation and the quality of her dishes - a main of pan-fried halibut, served with langoustine ravioli, asparagus spears and langoustine bisque, and a dessert of rhubarb and custard tart, served with poached rhubarb, lemon and mascarpone cream, and a rhubarb and rosemary sorbet - created within the two-hour challenge were simply exceptional and certainly worthy of first place. She rose to the challenge with remarkable composure under intense competitive pressure, impressing everyone present at the event.

Rebekah's prize is spectacular - she will have the extraordinary opportunity to visit Toscana Saporita, an authentic cookery school in Tuscany, where she will discover the secrets of Italian regional cookery- a richly deserved and exciting reward for her remarkable efforts over the course of the last few months.

Congratulations, Rebekah and a huge hand for Head of Health and Food Technology, Ms Karen Moore, for her guidance and support throughout. Take a bow!
