James Claims Double Scottish Championship Success

James Claims Double Scottish Championship Success

Following significant improvements in his times throughout the season, Sixth Year athlete James A delivered outstanding performances at the Scottish Track & Field Championships to claim both the U20 1500m and 5000m Scottish titles.

Competing for Garscube Harriers, James's tactical maturity shone through in the 1500m race, where he outmaneuvered some of Scotland's best young middle-distance runners to secure Scottish title number one, with title number two not far behind...

The following week, James dominated the 5000m championship, controlling the race from start to finish for a comfortable victory and his second national title of the meet.

These championship victories built on James's earlier success at the U17 5K Scottish Road Race Championships, where he claimed the title earlier in the summer to further establish himself as one of Scotland's top distance runners in his age group.

James capped off his exceptional season with victory in the C race at the prestigious Monument Mile Classic at Stirling University, clocking a speedy 4:07, as well as setting a new 1500m personal best at Livingston, finishing the season ranked 7th in Europe's U18 1500m rankings.

Speaking on James' sparkling summer, Mr Phil Smith, Director of PE and Sport, said:

Whatever James has achieved and will achieve is backed up by his enthusiasm and desire to continue to improve, which he shows across many aspects of his school life, as well as within his running. We are continually proud of James' achievements and wish him every success in all of his upcoming events."

James's remarkable success on a national level, alongside his excellent European ranking, represents an outstanding personal achievement - we couldn't be prouder!
