Junior and Senior School pupils won national awards in the Robert Burns World Federation Scottish Primary Schools Final at Denny High School on Saturday.

Having been finalists at the Trades House Robert Burns Festival competition back in January, six pupils went on to compete in these national finals in which pupils can compete in four distinct disciplines - Recitation, Singing, Instrumental and Bagpiping - with prizes available in Primary 4/5 and Primary 6/7 age categories.

Eklavya Singh (J6) improved on his second place at January's Glasgow event, winning the Verse Speaking P6/P7 competition, before going on to be crowned overall best verse speaker.

Maya Marshall (J5) also achieved success, winning the Solo Instrumental P4/P5 competition, with Cameron Davies (J6) runner up in the Solo Instrumental P6/P7 competition and Todd Shafar (J5) performing well in the Verse Speaking P4/P5 competition.

Maya and Cameron were joined by Transitus pupil Emily Gill and Yasmin Lamb of Junior 5 in making up the Glasgow district team for the Team Instrumental competition. They went on to win the McEwans Shield for best overall instrumental team, the first time that it has been won by Glasgow.

Rabbie would be proud!
