Our Junior School Art Department positively crackles with excitement every day!

From Junior 1, pupils participate in weekly timetabled classes as they learn the foundations of the art and design process, gaining confidence in making their own decisions, getting a grasp on their individual strengths and learning about famous artists from throughout history.

Pupils carry out their own research in order to enhance personal projects, gain understanding of artistic traits and learn more about the world.

Lessons are often based around classroom topics and themes, allowing our pupils to bring learning to life through creativity.

Their work is displayed throughout the classroom, in school corridors, and brought home for families to enjoy.

We believe that every child is an artist - it is our role to build confidence and inspire every pupil to create and express their special talents to the fullest capacity.

And...scene!

From Kindergarten, pupils love being a part of weekly timetabled Drama lessons. Working closely with peers, Junior School pupils discover new skills and gain confidence whilst, crucially, having fun!

Drama lessons incorporate topics and themes from the classroom which, in turn, aid our pupils visualisation and comprehension skills.

A highlight for pupils, teachers and parents are the regular performances and productions that take place each session. Whether it's our Junior 1 pupils enjoying a first taste of the limelight in the Christmas Nativity, Junior 3 working on a short studio production or Junior 6 putting on full-scale productions, we believe that our children are born to perform!

Our shows incorporate full production elements including lighting, set and sound design and spectacular costuming. Pupils are encouraged to participate, getting involved with productions, whether that be in an on-stage role or behind the scenes.

Music plays a huge part in the life of our school.

Junior School pupils take part in weekly core music lessons, with over 60% of pupils opting to advance on to individual instrumental tuition from Junior 3 onwards.

Pupils benefit from a department of highly talented full time teachers and visiting tutors, offering lessons in a wide variety of instruments, from piano, violin and clarinet to bagpipes and drums.

As pupils progress with their chosen instrument, they will have the opportunity to sit examinations through the Royal Schools of Music or Trinity College London.

A huge number of extra-curricular musical activities are available for pupils on a weekly basis; from singing in the Junior Choir to playing the flute in our Wind Band or the cello with our Junior String Orchestra, there really is an ensemble for each and every one of our talented young musicians.

Members of our school bands gain vital collaborative experience, with the chance to take part in regular concerts within the school and at external venues throughout the year. House music competitions, school assemblies and productions provide further opportunities for pupils to perform.
