Library Sessions

Images of books within our Junior School Library

Our fully stocked Junior School Library houses works of fiction and non-fiction, graphic novels, magazines, newspapers and dyslexia-friendly publications.

The Junior School Library provides the perfect environment in which children are able to develop their love of reading!

Every week our classes attend sessions with Junior School Librarian, Mrs McCarron. Junior 1 and 2 pupils often listen to a story and establish their love of reading by reinforcing skills learnt in the classroom. Our older pupils visit the library to read, spending time to pick books they would like to borrow and take home.

Pupils are taught about the library system and participate in learning tasks related to classroom topics, while our Librarian spends time with pupils in order to aid their reading skills away from the day-to-day classroom setting.

Throughout the session our Library hosts a series of events that encourage our young learners to read. We welcome renowned authors to the School and host an annual scholastic book week, while our Librarian works with the Scottish Book Trust to promote annual events and themes to the pupils.
