Swimming

Pupils achieved some excellent results at the Scottish National Age Group Synchronised Swimming Competition on Sunday 29th October.

Third Year pupil Tabitha Steven had an excellent day, finishing second in Scotland in both the U15 Figures and U15 Solo competitions, while Emily Gill of Transitus was second in the U12 Duet competition. There was also an impressive third place finish for Tabitha, Gabriella Smart and Lana Wallace (both S3) in the U15 Free Competitive Team competition.

However, the undoubted highlight of the day was the Gold medals won in the Combination Team competition - Tabitha and Gabriella finished in first place in this event, meaning they were the best team in Scotland and the second best in the entirety of the United Kingdom!

Elsewhere, Sixth Year swimmer Anna Fleming competed at the North District Open Championships last weekend, achieving second place finishes in the 100m Butterfly and 50m Breaststroke events, as well as third and fourth place finishes in the 100m Freestyle and 200m Freestyle events respectively.

Badminton

Fifth Year pupil Rachel Sugden (pictured above) represented Scotland at the U19 World Junior Team and Individual Championships in Yogyakarta, Indonesia last month. Rachel was part of the Scottish team who finished second in their group in the Mixed Team Championships, as well as competing in the Womens' Singles and Mixed Doubles competitions in the Individual Championships, reaching the second round of the latter.

Next up for Rachel is the European U17 Team and Individual Championships, taking place next week in Prague, Czech Republic. Rachel will again represent her country as they face Slovakia, Austria and Croatia in their group section, with the opening encounter with Slovakia taking place on Tuesday 21st November. She is the 11th seed in the Womens' Singles competition and will also compete in the Women's Doubles competition.

Football

Georgia Crooks, Mhairi Crooks (both S4) and Christina Miller (S3) have all been selected to represent the Scottish Independent Schools' FA Girls' U16 team to take on the 'Auld Enemy', England, at St George's Park in mid-December.

Hockey

The 1st XI navigated their way comfortably through their BP Cup group section, finishing top with two wins and a draw and qualifying for a semi-final with either Kelvinside Academy or Jordanhill School later this month. Their excellent start to the season continues with a match in Perth against Strathallan School in the Scottish Cup tomorrow afternoon.

Tennis

The team of Cate Sibbald (S5), Zara Hyslop, Claudie Quinn (both S4) and Charlotte Sim (S3) defeated Douglas Academy in the first round of the Scottish Tennis Cup competition in early November.
